What is a T1 Line?

The first thing about a T1 line is that it is a business service, not residential. This is simply a matter of cost. A T1 line is a dedicated circuit for your business that can provide voice (a phone line), data (internet access), or video (video conferencing), either as separate services or altogether. The foundation of a T1 is a four-wire digital circuit that carries 24 channels, each at the speed of 64 KBPS. This may not sound fast, but the combined effect is a speed of 1.544 MBPS!
